Questions

Where does the data come from?
Public data from NOAA, the National Weather Service and NASA: NEXRAD Level II radar, the MRMS national composite, HRRR model output, GOES and VIIRS satellite imagery, watches and warnings, Storm Prediction Center outlooks and surface observations. The app downloads it directly; there is no data subscription.
Is this an official warning service?
No. WeatherStory Radar is an analysis and visualization tool, and data can be delayed or missing. For official forecasts and warnings, use the National Weather Service at weather.gov, NOAA Weather Radio, or the emergency alerts on your phone.
Why does the app ask for my location?
To show where you are on the map and pick the nearest radar. The app first asks when you tap its location button. Your location stays on your device and is never sent to us. You can say no and use everything else; to change it later, open Settings on iPhone or System Settings on Mac, then Privacy & Security, then Location Services.
Does the app collect my data?
No. There are no accounts, no ads and no analytics. The privacy policy lists exactly what the app connects to.
How do I update the Mac app?
The Mac app downloaded from weatherstory.io checks for updates on its own. To check now, choose Check for Updates from the WeatherStory Radar menu. On iPhone, updates come through the App Store.
